This new modern home, nestled in a leafy Toronto neighbourhood, reinterprets the local vernacular with a bold, refreshed design. From the earliest sketches, we preserved the idea of a pronounced gable and traditional red brick to root the house in its context, while giving it a contemporary feel. The clients, knew what they wanted: a warm, functional space for their growing family of three kids under four. Forgoing a garage in favour of ample storage for bikes and strollers, the design prioritizes livability. Inside, a darker palette and bold colours are balanced by natural wood for warmth. Durable finishes ensure the house stands up to daily life, without compromising on design. With space for 14 to dine, the home blends comfort and modernity; a “liveable luxury” that feels new and designed, while remaining homey and relaxed.
